Friday Fictioneers: Symbol Of Unity

Friday Fictioneers is hosted by Rochelle Wisoff-Fields who provides us with a photo prompt. Each week’s challenge is to write a 100-word story inspired by the photo. Click here to play along or just read more stories.

Symbol Of Unity

People from around the world flocked to see the “glowing eggs.”

They seemed to pop up from nowhere, shattering the darkness of a soft spring night. The glow was visible for miles and attracted people like moths. They brought people together and became a symbol of unity.

Gatherings started immediately as curious town’s people surrounded the lake. Within days, news of the phenomenon spread globally, and the pilgrimages began. Our town became a festival that lasted months. Apart from the unwashed masses and off-key sing-a-longs, it was a beautiful scene.

Things took a turn in autumn when the eggs hatched.

    1. I had enough carnage in last week’s story. This week I had to leave it with a subtle suggestion. You can play along and make it as gentle or horrific as you want. Thank you.
