Friday Fictioneers: Blame It On The Rain

Friday Fictioneers is hosted by Rochelle Wisoff-Fields who provides us with a photo prompt. Each week’s challenge is to write a 100-word story inspired by the photo. Click here to play along or just read more stories.

No audio this time. Blame it on the rain. No. It’s a time issue. Maybe I’ll record it later. Maybe not.

Blame It On The Rain

Their parents told them not to play in the park. Rain was imminent. They didn’t listen.

The children laughed and played as the first drops began to fall. When the downpour hit, they wanted to go home, but it was too late. They’d get soaked. There was nothing they could do but hide under the covering and wait for the storm to pass.

Some said the rain washed the children away. The more logical demanded they were taken.  Still, others posited that they ran away.

The mirror world only shows up when it rains. The sun closes the portal.

  1. Ah! You and I had similar ideas about that sinister shiny stuff. I hope it’s a happy place there for the children, and maybe they’ll find their way back home the next time it rains…
